A Complete Curly Hair Product Line

Black Friday is a great time to purchase a complete line of products because you can get them at a discounted rate.

Mix and matching products have a place in a curly girl’s life for sure, but I’ve found that I typically get the best results when I am using a complete line of products together.

Product are typically designed to complement each other creating the best protein and moisture balance.

If you choose to mix and max (which is perfectly ok) make sure you understand the protein moisture balance and are using products accordingly. read more about it here.

Below I’ve listed my top product recommendations of 2020

EVOLVh

EVOLVh’s products are formulated with clean ingredients that are friendly to your hair and the environment. Their goal is function and performance.

A couple of things I love about EVOLVh

  • The products have a light pleasant smell – Strong smells in products give me a headache after a while
  • Formulated with clean ingredients – It’s a great way to swap out your toxic hair care line with a clean toxic free line
  • The products last a long time – A little bit goes a long way
  • Free from: Sulfates, gluten, parabens, propylene glycol, silicones, phthalates
  • Hydrates, without weighing down – It’s the perfect amount of moisture for my 3a curls
  • Medium hold – I love the super defining cream because it offers the perfect amount of hold
  • I love that they keep their products simple. You don’t have to try to choose from dozens of different products

This is currently my top recommended brand. Keep in mind that product recommendations in this blog are subject to change as I am always testing new product lines.

I use and highly recommend EVOLVh. My curls are loving these products!

I recommend getting started with the curl bundle. It has everything you need to get started on your curly journey.

Important note: I’ve noticed while using EVOLVh on my 3a curls, doing a weekly rice water rinse is a great way to balance protein back into my routine.

As always, you should test and experiment on what works best for your curls. You can get the Daily Curl Tracker here. And you can check out my full EVOLVh review at this post

Bounce Curl

One of my favorite product lines is Bounce Curl. This product line contains a good amount of protein for those who’s curls love a good protein boost as much as mine do.

My favorite Bounce Curl products are the gentle clarifying wash, curl defining cream, and cream-based gel.

You can see my comparison review for bounce curl at this post.

My Soinge

This company is a female-owned business by an amazing woman who formulated the product herself.

She has perfected the art of making flaxseed gel that is clean and lasts on your countertop rather than needing to be refrigerated.

My Soinge will be releasing a leave-in conditioner high in protein soon and I’ll be doing a complete review. Be sure to check back for an updated post.

Curl Protection Accessories

Because curls are temperamental, they are prone to breakage more so than straight hair. All that lovely texture creates friction. To reduce damage, it is important to protect your curls.

Silk/Satin pillowcase or cap

When we sleep, we toss and turn creating friction, tangles, and over time hair loss.

Because silk/satin is smooth to touch and retains moisture (unlike many other fabrics that absorb moisture) it is the perfect fabric to protect your hair while you sleep.

I typically sleep with a silk cap during day one of my washday, then I sleep on a silk pillowcase the other few nights.

Silk or satin has been a game-changer in my curly journey.

My favorite silk pillowcase is the tee-towel towel.

My favorite silk cap is the luxury reversible silk cap by Chaya.

Puff cuff

Securing curly hair is another thing that can often cause damage if you are not careful. Opt for a clip or a soft hair tie rather than a traditional one.

The puff cuff is a unique design that clips your hair on the top of your head while you sleep or are working around the house.

Curly Hair Resources

After spending years experimenting with curly hair, I’ve compiled all of my knowledge into both printable resources and video tutorials.

And for black Friday, I’ve combined them all into one package at an extremely discounted price.

The Curl Black Friday Special Includes…..

This Black Friday, I’ve bundled all these resources into one at a special discount.

Scalp Care

Beautiful hair begins with your scalp. Scalp care should be one of your top priorities when you start your curly hair journey.

The best way to care for your scalp is to do a clarifying cleanser once per month, and do a scalp massage using your favorite oil every day (or whatever works best for your specific curls).

The Innate Life Scalp Treatment Bundle

I recently stumbled on this bundle for scalp care. The Innate Life specializes in all natural scalp care and hair growth products.

Since scalp care can be a huge issue with some curls, I definitely recommend giving these products a try. They have a normal scalp or problematic scalp kit. Read more about scalp issues and the curly girl method here.

Clarifying cleanser

It’s important to use a clarifying wash once per month to cleanse any buildup or dirt and oils from your hair.

Even if you are using clean products, they still have a way of causing buildup from time to time.

Using a clarifying wash has a way of starting the month with a fresh slate. This is a good time to note whether your hair needs moisture or protein.

My two favorite clarifying wash is Bounce Curl clarifying cleanser

Scalp massage stimulator

When it comes to a scalp massage, I love using this handy messaging tool.

Hair oil

Choose an oil designed for curly hair during your scalp massage. My favorite is righteous roots.

Hair Growth Supplements

Healthy hair begins with your scalp, but to take it a step further it begins in your gut. You must give your body the nutrients it needs to grow healthy hair. And since most of us don’t eat the leafy greens our body’s need, we should supplement.

You can read more about hair growth supplements here.

The best supplements to promote hair growth are listed below.

Collagen – Because collagen is packed full of antioxidants that fight free radicals, it provides many different benefits to hair, skin, and nails.

Hair, skin, and nails – Filled with biotin and other necessary ingredients for healthy hair

Probiotic – Taking a daily probiotic can aid in hair growth because each hair follicle is surrounded by nourishing blood vessels. Probiotics attack pathogens and keep your blood healthy.

Daily vitamin – Think of your daily vitamin as a way to ensure that your body is getting everything it needs.

Tools For Drying

A lot of damage can happen when drying curly hair if you are not careful. In a perfect world, air drying would be the only way to dry hair.

But air drying can take a long time. The three best products to use to help protect your curls from heat damage are a diffuser, a heat-protecting product, and a microfiber towel.

Check out this in-depth post on my favorite diffusers.

I’ve listed some of my favorite brands for heat protection below.

Dyson blow dryer

Although I haven’t tried this yet, I’ve watched many reviews and it is at the top of my Black Friday list.

Dyson has been a long-loved brand in our home so adding their blow dryer will be exciting!

The Dyson blow dryer has dozens of features including but not limited to magnetic attachments. It was engineered to dry your hair without damaging it or your scalp. Which is a huge win for curly girls since we are more prone to damage.

It comes with three attachments including a smoothing nozzle, styling concentrator, and diffuser. So you will have an attachment for whatever style you are going for.

As far as the best place to purchase from, Sephora and Ulta always run great sales during black Friday and usually offer free shipping.

Orchid diffuser

I purchased the orchid diffuser shortly after I started my curly hair journey. The largemouth enables you to dry large amounts of your hair quickly.

If you are looking for a nice diffuser with an affordable price tag, I would highly recommend the Black Orchid Diffuser.

Devafuser

This diffuser is shaped like a hand which makes it especially good at drying your roots and creating volume without causing frizz.

What I Love About The DevaCurl Devafuser

  1. The diffuser is shaped like a hand and designed to fit around your scalp cradling your curls while distributing airflow throughout your head.
  2. Because it has long finger-like prongs, it allows more airflow which dries your hair quicker. (yay!)
  3. Its design allows you to hold it close to your scalp which creates volume but is gentle enough to keep definition.
  4. It has a sturdy high quality feel to it.
  5. The fit is adjustable and fits most standard blow dryers.
  6. Although it’s a little more expensive than other diffusers, I would say it is still affordable.

Collapsible diffuser

Having a collapsible diffuser is a must for day trips or if you like going to the gym. They are lightweight and don’t take up a lot of space in your bag.

Heat protector

When it comes to a heat-protecting product, my favorite one is EVOLVh’s wonder balm magic.

This product is a serum that you can apply on wet ot try hair. It acts as a heat protectant as well as a frizz reducer.

>>>>Click here to get EVOVLh’s wonderbalm

Microfiber towel

Traditional towels cause frizz because they are harsh on curls. Swapping your towel out for a high-end microfiber towel will reduce frizz and breakage.
