Denman Brush vs. Behairful Brush: My Honest Review

Early on in my curly girl journey, I discovered the idea of manipulating curls versus a simple scrunch and go method. This is the Denman Brush vs. Behairful Brush: My Honest Review.

I loved and wanted to learn everything I could about curl manipulation and how to train my curls.

The first brush I purchased was the classic Denman brush and I was later gifted the Behairful brush.

I have since done many different experiments with the two and am excited to share my honest review.

I created a detailed video on how to use the Denman brush on my Instagram account and it is by far my most-watched video to date. You can see it here.

Before we get started with today’s topic, I have a special gift for you.

When it comes to taming curly or wavy hair, I’ve found that there are 5 common mistakes people make that completely KILL their results!

I’ve created a 60 second quiz that will help you determine exactly which mistake you are making, and how to fix it!

Denman Brush Review

The Denman brush was the first brush I started with and fell in love with it.

It is super high quality, versatile, and what I consider a staple tool for every curly girl.

Denman Brush Pros

High quality: The Denman brush comes in pretty packaging (which I always appreciate) has a good feel to it, and you can tell it is a high-quality product.

Versatile: You can use the Denman brush for multiple purposes. I use mine to detangle, distribute the product, and style.

You can also remove every other row in the brush depending on what look you are trying to achieve.

Example – I remove every other row to create larger coiled curls.

Enhances definition: The Denman brush does a great job in creating and enhancing your curl pattern which creates amazing definition.

Product Distribution: Because the bristles are close together and slick, it helps distribute product evenly.

Denman Brush Cons

The two cons that I see about the Denman Brush are…

Not as much volume: I find that I don’t get as much volume as I’d like when I use it.

It’s Costly: It is a bit more expensive than other brushes on the market.

However, because of all the pros, I consider it well worth the investment.

Note: There are many knock-off Denman brushes on the market. These are not the same as a classic Denman brush and will not yield the same results.

As always, you get what you pay for. When purchasing a Denman brush, get the original.

You can get it here.

I used the Denman Brush (with different products) for both of these looks. You can see my full Denman Brush tutorial here.

Behairful Brush Review

I stumbled on the Behairful Brush shortly after I started my curly girl journey and reached out to the company to see if they would like to collaborate.

They were so kind and willing to gift me a brush (when I had less than 1,000 followers) for me to do a review.

They are a great company to work with.

Behairful Brush Pros

High Quality: It comes in a boogie package and the brush itself feels good to touch. You can tell it’s made out of quality material.

The Best Detangling Brush: This brush is by far the best detangling brush I’ve used. It is the only brush I will use to dry detangle and cause little to no shedding. It’s almost magical.

Creates Insane Volume: Someone told me my hair was “defying gravity” after using the Behairful brush to style. That was pretty much the best compliment of life.

Behairful Brush Cons

I’m not convinced the bristles don’t cause frizz: The bristles supposedly don’t cause frizz but I’m not totally sold on that idea. My hair was definitely more frizzy but I’d honestly take that if it means epic volume.

Not As Many Definition: You can see from the before and after photos above that, there is a significant difference in definition between the two brushes.

Expensive: The Behairful brush is certainly an investment.

Still, I consider it totally worth the cost considering everything this brush is capable of.

To sum up, The Denman Brush vs. Behairful Brush: My Honest Review

I honestly love them both brushes for different reasons.

I love my Denman brush to get perfectly defined coils, while nothing beats the volume that the Behairful brush offers.

If you like big hair, opt for the Behairful brush. But if definition your jam, you need a Denman brush in your life.
